Creating an Online Presence

I went to a writer's conference in Tampa where we were told we have to have an online presence. Social media has changed the face of marketing and Amazon has changed the way we shop. Without an online presence, no one will know we exist and our writing will never reach our intended audience.
The problem is I'm a Boomer. The only alternative seems to be sitting in Barnes & Noble for six hour so I can sell three copies of my book. That didn't seem like a viable option, so I set out to market myself.
We were given a list of various options and told not to try everything. Pick the ones that are familiar and that you enjoy working with. Don't try to do everything.
So I went back onto Facebook (which I got off of years ago due the poisonous political climate). I created this webpage and started blogging. After that, I looked at TikTok which I'm still trying to figure out the purpose of, and Instagram which was linked to Facebook.
The best I could figure, Instagram and TikTok were designed to showcase short videos in hopes of luring viewers to your website. However, you had to look good in a bikini or be willing to do a faceplant into the side of a building or you had to have a pet that did funny things. I couldn't pull off any of these.
However, I did enjoy making book trailers, and as soon as I figure out how to load them into my website, you'll just have to stumble across them on Instagram.
